Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Spring Time' Dwarf Lawsons Cypress growing on DR (Disease Resistant) rootstock. Yellow, and conical upright variety of Port Orford Cedar. Leaves are yellow with a lime green backing. Foliage is adult and some juvenile, with pointed leaders. Very dense growing about 2 inches a year. New plant from Holland. Good container plant.
Chamaecyparis lawsoniana is being attacked by a root rot fungus, Phytophthora lateralis, which is devastating the species in many parts of the USA. Because of this, Dr. Everett Hansen of Oregon State University developed a P. lateralis resistant clone (CF1) that is now being used by some wholesale nurseries as a rootstock for selected C. lawsoniana cultivars. Areas not able to grow this fine species are having great results with the DR rootstock plants.
