Acer palmatum 'Rhode Island Red' an outstanding dwarf selection of Japanese Maple, upright growth with dense, compact branching, which gives a round outline as it ages. This cultivar has bright red, spring flush that darkens as leaves mature. Fall foliage is outstanding orange to red, and in winter, dark red stems add drama to the scene. Prefers organic rich well drained soil.
This was a very difficult tree to find on line so I am grateful I was able to obtain one. The only option for this specimen was a 2 yr plant after grafting. On arrival the specimen was well packaged and protected. Roots moist - the few leaves present had fallen off leaving only an 16" stem. It has a number of buds present and I know the dormant state does not indicate an unhealthy plant. I have planted it, will mulch and water carefully, cover heavily over the winter and hope it buds out and comes alive in Spring
